Sir Ian Wilmut is currently the Director of the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, UK. Known as the "Father of Genetic Cloning", Dr. Ian Wilmut was the first to produce a new-generation cloned sheep through asexual reproduction. In 1999, he was appointed the Order of the British Empire (OBE) and was knighted in 2008. He was a director of the Roslin Institute. In 1971, he received his Ph.D. from Cambridge University.
