Mr. Du Zhanyuan was born in Hunan Province, China in July 1962. He is an agronomist with a PhD in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry from University of Massachusetts in the United States of America. He is a delegate of the 18th and 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. From 1998 to 2010, he was the Vice Minister of Science and Technology. In 2010, he was appointed the Vice Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China. He is also the Chairman of the State Language Commission since 2015.
